Avant-garde artist exploring human energy through the language of color
Valentyn Metik was born in 1992 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. He honed his artistic skills through private lessons, studying painting, drawing, and anatomy, which shaped his distinctive approach to portraying the human form. Since 2015, he has actively participated in a variety of exhibitions, steadily expanding his professional presence and presenting new series of works to audiences. Since 2019, he has been living and working in Kyiv, where his artistic practice has continued to evolve.
Metik’s work delves into the phenomenon of human energy — its impact on internal states and behavior, as well as the cycles of accumulation and depletion. He expresses these transformations through the language of color, using it as the primary means of conveying inner changes. His choice of this theme is deeply influenced by personal life events and experiences that have shaped his creative journey over the years.
Color for me is not just a shade on canvas but a trace of energy passing through a person. I paint not what I see, but how I feel this movement inside — from fullness to depletion, from light to shadow.
