Hafinets’ Still Life: A Dialogue with Abstraction
Angelina Hafinets was born in 1992 in Uzhhorod. She studied at the Erdeli College of Arts (2007‑2011), later pursued ceramic arts at the Zakarpattia Art Institute (2011‑2013) and completed a master’s degree in painting at the Zakarpattia Academy of Arts (up to 2018). Since 2013, she has taken part in numerous regional, national, and international exhibitions.
Her work merges classical still life with abstraction, focusing on color structure and spatial harmony. One of her recent solo exhibitions, “The Space of Still Life,” was held at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum, showcasing about 30 paintings that reimagine the Zakarpattia painting traditions in a modern context.
I always see the canvas as a living space. When color begins to move and form its own story, I simply watch as a new reality emerges. In those moments, I feel that art speaks on my behalf.
